At the General Assembly in Lausanne the International University Sports Federation (FISU) has elected a new Executive Board with Russia’s Oleg Matytsin appointed as the new FISU President.

IOC President Thomas Bach also visited the FISU General Assembly giving a welcome address to all the participants.

 

Muaythai gained new ground and recognition after the successful World University Championship in Bangkok in fully meeting FISU’s criteria and equally impressing all attending delegates.  The recognition was made official by FISU at the SportAccord Convention in Sochi. The former FISU President, Mr. Claude-Louis Gallien, and IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan signed a collaboration convention marking the beginning of the IFMA – FISU cooperation.
IFMA congratulates Mr. Matytsyn on his election with muaythai being fully committed in adding all its history, traditions and values to the university sports movement.
