IFMA is a proud signatory of WADA and partner of ITA, and maintains a policy of zero tolerance for any form of cheating. The IFMA stakeholders took part in the third webinar of the 2021 monthly series delivered by the International Testing Agency (ITA). We would like to thank all our stakeholders who participated and remember to always play true.

The March session took a deep dive into the reporting of doping in sport. While whistleblowing is effective for exposing doping, little is known or understood about the actual whistleblowing process. Speaking up is a complex series of steps and decisions that may lead to career- and life-altering implications for whistleblowers. To this day, the majority of athletes feel like they have to choose between their careers and telling the truth.

During this session, we heard from Toby Atkins, a former professional cyclist and a whistleblower who has worked with a number of International Federations and Anti-Doping Organisations in the area of anti-doping education. Also joining was Kelsey Erickson, Executive Director of Athlete Health & Wellness at USA Cycling and a researcher with a particular interest in raising the athletes’ voice and underlining the complexity of doping and whistleblowing in sport. Finally, the ITA Cycling Unit Intelligence & Investigations Manager François Marclay spoke about Reveal, the new ITA whistleblowing platform.

Please remember that if you have any information on perceived or real doping offences, you can share them confidentially on Reveal – help us to keep sport real!
