A special workshop took place with over 100 people in attendance; representatives from the Royal Thai government, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Cultural Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Sport Authority of Thailand. President of IFMA, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, President of the World Muaythai Council under patronage of His Majesty the King General Chetta, IOC member, Dr. Nat Indrapana, Vice President of the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand under patronage of His Majesty the Crown Prince, IFMA Sport Director Charissa Tynan, IFMA Social Responsibility Director Abigail Pamei, IFMA Ethics Commission Azadeh Kamyabi, Director of European Muaythai Federation Gleb Kalita and also the AIMS President and SportAccord Vice President Mr. Stephan Fox, many other dignities from muaythai institute, leading muaythai masters, and representatives from muaythai institute were all present.
Dr Tapsuwan gave a detailed presentation on IFMA’s IOC application process, IFMA’s involvement in AIMS, the fourth IOC recognised international federations umbrella groups for sports that are striving for IOC recognition. IFMA Sport Director Mrs. Tynan gave an interactive report on the IFMA development; the important games IFMA and muaythai are included in, the SEA Games, Asian Beach Games, Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games, World Games, FISU, World Championships programme and World Combat Games.

Ms Pamei reported on all IFMA social development, cooperation with Peace and Sport, Generation for Peace, UN Women, IFMA’s Fair Play initiatives.
AIMS President Mr Stephan Fox presented in detail the IOC recognition process, the cooperation between SportAccord and AIMS that benefits the 23 sport grouped together under AIMS.

Dr Indrapana, IOC member of Thailand stated that the development of IFMA over the last years in the recognition process for SportAccord and now in the recognition process by the IOC has been widely witnessed and IFMA must continue the successful work in showcasing good governance and ethics.

The meeting concluded with all governmental departments agreeing to support IFMA as the sole recognised federation. It was decided that another workshop will be set for August when Thailand will welcome the youth of the world for the Muaythai Youth World Championships.
