The heart of Luxembourg came alive this past weekend as the Thai Festival, held in close collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy, offered visitors a vibrant celebration of Thai culture — a feast for the senses filled with traditional performances, cuisine, crafts, and, of course, Muaythai.

The Luxembourg Muaythai Federation, an active and proud member of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), played a central role in the festivities, bringing the spirit of the “art of eight limbs” to life. From interactive sessions to dynamic live demonstrations, guests of all ages were introduced to the beauty, discipline, and cultural depth of Muaythai, guided by local experts and passionate trainers.

A standout moment of the day was the appearance of Mahdi Hosseini, a refugee athlete who recently earned international acclaim with a silver medal at the European Championships in Kosovo, competing as part of the IFMA Refugee Team. Mahdi’s showcase blended elite technique with a deeply moving personal journey, capturing the hearts of the crowd and underscoring the power of sport as a force for resilience and hope.

Serge Dos Santos, President of the Luxembourg Muaythai Federation, shared his pride in the team’s participation:

“It was an honor to represent Muaythai at such a meaningful cultural event. Seeing people of all ages and backgrounds engage with the sport — many for the first time — was truly special. This is what Muaythai is all about: sharing our values of respect, discipline, and unity with the wider community.”

The festival was more than just a cultural celebration — it was a demonstration of how Muaythai bridges communities, fosters inclusivity, and builds respect through shared experiences.

IFMA extends its congratulations to the Luxembourg Muaythai Federation for their outstanding contribution to the festival and commends their dedication to promoting Muaythai’s core values: respect, cultural exchange, and inclusion.

As Muaythai continues to grow globally, events like these reflect Muaythais unique ability to unite people, celebrate heritage, and inspire future generations.
