The Saudi Muaythai Federation under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Fahad Bin Mansour bin Saad Bin Saud Al Saud, fully recognized by the National Olympic Committee and Sports Ministry, just celebrated their 1 year anniversary of their MoU with the Royal Thai Government, the National Federation and IFMA.
A special celebration took place at the Royal Thai Embassy by invitation of His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mr. Darm Boontham, who invited representatives of over 50 embassies, the National Olympic Committee and a performance group from the Kingdom of Thailand which made history to be the first internationally accredited by IFMA, AMTAT, PAT and SAT, the only official Muaythai bodies in the Kingdom of Thailand and IFMA, recognized by the IOC.
The embassy praised the cooperation between the National Federation and IFMA. The embassy’s full support of muaythai in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia goes back nearly 10 years when the national federation was established under IFMA and since then, has grown into one of Asia’s leading national federations.
HRH Prince Fahad Bin Mansour bin Saad Bin Saud Al Saud, also the IFMA Vice President, thanked His Excellency the Ambassador for this outstanding event and that the Saudi National Federation will continue to enhance and promote muaythai both as a cultural artform and sport for all abilities.
The performance group and teachers stayed in Saudi for a few more days to conduct workshops with the National Federation and now the Saudi National Team is preparing for the IFMA World Championships in Greece and the qualifications are nearly finalized for the Youth World Championships in Bangkok.
