The WMC, which was established under the directive of the Royal Thai Government and under patronage of HM the King invited the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand (AMTAT), patronised by HRH Crown Prince of Thailand and recognised by the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, which is also under patronage of HM the King.

AMTAT is a member of IFMA, the world governing body for muaythai, charged with the task of taking muaythai to the highest possible sport recognition. Over the last twenty years, Thailand’s national association and the International Federation has worked closely together. Royal Trophies have been donated throughout this time to the events organised in Thailand under the sanctioning of the WMC and IFMA.

Important partnerships have been formed with UNWomen and UNESCO to use the power of sport and Muaythai to make a positive change. Representatives of these partner organisations were also in attendance.

Staff from IFMA, AMTAT and WMC participated in the remembrance at which all attendees gathered together to share in their heartfelt loss of His Majesty King Bhumipol.

President of WMC General Chetta welcomed everyone and thanked them for joining the special tribute. IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan extended a special welcome to the representatives from UNESCO and UNWomen, while SportAccord Vice President Stephan Fox read the condolence messages from many leaders in sport. A special group shot was taken to memorialise the gathering and attendees together watched in solemn silence the documentary on the life of His Majesty broadcast on Thai Television.
