The beautiful and historical city of Kenitra is the host of 2017 African Muaythai Championships held from 14 to 17 of December.Developing muaythai is one of the highest priorities in the IFMA strategic plan stated by IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan. Countries like Morocco, South Africa, Algeria, Cote D’Voire to name a few are leading countries in the world.

The African Muaythai Union President Mr. Driss El Hilali who is also IFMA Vice President stated that the African Muaythai Championships is more than just a sporting event. It will see the best muaythai athletes from all parts of Africa joining in Morocco in the spirit of cultural and sporting exchange. There are many activities planned around the event which is official supported and recognised by the  Olympic Committee of Morocco.

IFMA indebted to Marocaine IOC member Ms Nawal El Moutawakel, one of the most outstanding Olympians for her support for Muaythai’s recognition by the IOC.

There will be many side meetings during the event to discuss issues of anti-doping and sport integrity, and the Sport Ministry of Morocco thanked IFMA and the African Muaythai Union for the trust in choosing Morocco for 2017 African Championships.
