On the last bidding day, the government of Malaysia made the final and extremely impressive presentation to the IFMA Executive Board, followed up by an invitation to give a further presentation at the Annual General Meeting. The dynamic presentations were given by Mr. Tony Nagamaiah, General Manager for International Events at MYCEB, Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, assisted by his capable team.

As a result, Malaysia has officially won the hosting bid for 2014 World Championships. Langkawi, one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world will soon become Muaythai island.

There were many close discussions leading up to the final selection of who would win hosting rights for 2014. However, Malaysia’s inspired use of their “one world, one IFMA family” approach, combining a sporting event with a family holiday and culture experience, was what finally closed the deal in their favour.

The 2014 World Championships are set to bring all generations of Muaythai together, an inspirational idea which will set the bar very high. So many activities are planned in complement to this upcoming championship that anticipation could not be higher.

Congratulations Malaysia!
