presscon6It was a full house with journalists from around the world at the Kazan Muaythai World Cup press conference at the Basket Hall Arena with special addresses from the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, Russian Muaythai Federation President Dmitry Putilin and IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox. The Minister expressed his pride in having this event in Kazan, a sporting city that has hosted many world class sporting events including the 2013 Universiade. He stated that Kazan is looking forward to seven days of sporting and cultural exchange. The Russian Muaythai president thanked the city of Kazan and the Tatarstan region for all their effort in making this event possible and assured that the russian national team is well prepared.

The IFMA General Secretary on behalf of the IFMA executive and all national federations especially in the name of athletes, thanked Kazan for the amazing hospitality. He stated that there was no doubt that beyond the sporting competition many new life long friendships will be formed. He also outlined again the importance of this event as a key qualifier for 2017 World Games in Wroclaw and that 11 athletes will continue their journey to the games after this event.
