The city of Jönköping, also the birth place of many famous names like Agnetha Fältskog from the world renowned pop group ABBA, is looking forward to welcome participating teams for the World Championships 2016.

Mayor of the Jönköping Municipality Mr. Anders Hulusjö assures us that the city is in full support of the event that will live in the memories of athletes, officials and spectators for many years.
At the closing ceremony of the 2015 Royal World Cup the Minister of Sport and Tourism handed over the IFMA flag to Mr. Hulusjö like the baton in a relay, an emotional moment where the present meets the future with muaythai having a rich past.

Patrik Olderius, CEO of Destination Jönköping, is proud and excited that Jönköping will host a world championship for a sport with around 2000 participants from over a hundred nations. It is also a task we approach with great humility and respect. We are sure that through good preparation and cooperation with the organizers and associations, 2016 Muaythai World Championship will be a real success.
The Jönköping Business and Investment Plan has included the World Championships in its 2016-2018 roadmap as an event strengthening the tourism industry in the municipality. The Muaythai World Championships is one of the key events for introduction of Jönköping as sports and events destination.

IFMA is grateful to the organising committee of the World Championships, to the Mayor of the city, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden Mr Kiattikhun Chartprasert, CEO of the main stage of the event, Kinnarps Arena,  Emil Danielsson and many others who are engaged in the preparation and the holding of the event.
