Saturday the 18th of March marks one of the most important days so far in the WMC calendar for 2023 as Jimmy Vienot will defend his WMC world title against challenger Youssif Assouik. The event will take place under the banner of Nice Fight Night under the IFMA federation FFKMDA and sanctioned by the WMC.
Jimmy needs no introduction as a multiple-time IFMA gold medalist and the current WMC world double champ of both the Super-Welterweight division (69.5kg) and the Middleweight division (72.5kg). Jimmy won gold in 2019 at the IFMA World Championships in the 75kg division and went on to win gold in the 71kg division. He has also won the WMC world title in the 72.5kg division twice and also the 69kg division. Jimmy is also a Lumpinee Stadium champion and is known for his outstanding ring skills and mastery of the eight weapons of muaythai. A true ambassador for the sport, living and promoting the code of respect and honour.
Youssif Assoik a Danish national of Moroccan heritage is also an IFMA gold medalist having received first place at the world championships in Abu Dhabi 2022 defeating WMC Intercontinental champion Liam Nolan from the UK. A recent win against Nicolas Mendes from Spain for the WMC super middleweight title (76.19Kg) and becoming European champion put Youssif firmly in line for a shot at the world title. This is one of the most exciting fights to date this year so far.
Will Youssif be able to dethrone Jimmy Vienot or will the double champ retain his status?
