The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has officially signed the Host City Contract for the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), which will be hosted in Thailand.

Bangkok and Pattaya in Chonburi province will share the sixth edition of the Games next year, when 24 sports will be on the programme.

15 years since Thailand hosted the first edition of the Games in 2005 the event is returning to Thailand with Bangkok and Pattaya hosting the event.

The signing ceremony took place via video conference between the Sports Authority of Thailand in Bangkok and the OCA headquarters in Kuwait.

Muaythai will be one of the main sports in the Games as in the previous editions IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan stated that he is proud that the AIMAG found their way back to Thailand. winning the bid is a great promotion for Thailand to host the Youth Olympics 2026. 

FAMA President Mr. Karim Massimov stated that this event once again will showcase Asian best athletes in the indoor sports, and will showcase again the unity in diversity of Asia. 

Charissa Tynan, IFMA Director stated that the AIMAG have proved successful for muaythai especially as IFMA continued strategy for gender empowerment and the fact that the Oceania athletes will also enter this competition will bring it a special energy to this amazing event.

The last edition of the Games in 2017 were held in Ashgabat in Turkmenistan.
