International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has met with his International University Sports Federation (FISU) counterpart Oleg Matytsin to discuss the potential for closer cooperation between the organisations.
Mr. Matytsin detailed the progress made by the organisation since he took over in November including providing a report on the key outcomes of FISU’s Executive Committee meeting earlier this month. Among others the report included a decision to lower the maximum age of participation at FISU-owned sport events from 28 to 25, as well as discussions about developing further educational programmes for young sports leaders and volunteers
IFMA prides itself to be a FISU member and having its athletes as a part of the celebration of IFMA University World Cups and Championships under FISU. IFMA President states that the foundation of Olympism is to blend sport and education which is also an important element of IFMA.
FISU praised IFMA for a successful FISU World Cup and the academic forum held during the event.
IFMA and Muaythai has been officially included in the FISU World Championship program and IFMA has planned many university events worldwide and will continue to combine sport, education, cultural exchange and continue to use Muaythai as a powerful tool to contribute to society and today’s students will be tomorrows leader to set the example.
