The Mauritius Muaythai Federation has just successfully completed a 2 day seminar in which all member gyms underwent an iGLA Khru course conducted in the Moka village hall. This is the first time a country in the Indian Ocean has put together such an event not only in muaythai but in all martial arts within the region.

15 Khrus were in attendance all hailing from gyms across the island and eager to learn from the Thai master as he took them through a series of advanced moves and counter strike techniques.

The course was conducted by Ajarn Chao who is on of the leading masters in Muaythai inThailand assisted by the Mauritius national coach Berty D’Eau, a khan 13 himself who was on hand to demonstrate the many postures and also explain some of the terminology.

Following the teachings of the many moves a traditional Khrob Khru ceremony was held where respect was paid to the masters and Nak Muay fighters who are no longer with us. Offerings were made to the spirits with fruit, flowers, snacks and beverages as a thank you to the knowledge which has been passed down over 1,000 years.

As part of the ceremony the newly appointed Khrus paid respect to Ajarn Chao, Berty and the President and IFMA Executive Board member Sham Seetaram as they were awarded their mongkhons and Khru certificates.

IFMA would like to congratulate all the Khrus on their appointment and thank them for their continued effort in pushing the sport to the highest level.
