The Panhellenic Muaythai Federation has just hosted the biggest iGLA Khru seminar to date with over 100 people participating. The federation is hosting a series of seminars from the 27th June to the 2nd July to celebrate one year of recognition by the Greek Ministry of Sport.

Coaches came from all parts of Greece including some of the 200 islands which make up the country to celebrate this auspicious event showing strength and unity in the federation.

Three days of the event were set aside to focus on the iGLA education syllabus, the only system recognised by IFMA and the WMC which was lead by the Thai masters Ajarn Sawaeng, Ajarn Somnuek and the Greek Master Gkitsas Theodoros who has over 30 years experience in both muaythai and muay boran.

Andrew Scott the WMC Sport Director and iGLA coordinator gave a 1.5 hour presentation introducing the education syllabus before detailing how to use the system which is all accessed online and was on hand to answer any questions afterwards.

The instructors were shown all the moves by the Thai masters from Khan 1 to Khan 9 before discussing the techniques in detail and demonstrating what to look for when grading students.

Emphasis was placed on mastering the basic form and having a strong stance which the Thai masters compared to a tree with strong roots been able to develop and flourish at a greater speed.

Nikos Ketselidis the Development Manager stated that the federation has come on leaps and bounds over the last 3 years and we must give credit to our President in that respect for his hard work and vision. The date of our recognition truly is special as it falls on the exact same date as the President’s birthday.

Ioannis Papadopoulos the President of the Panhellenic Muaythai Federation stated that “I am very glad that we managed to host with such a big success an iGLA instructor’s seminar with more than 100 attendants. It is our honor that we have so many special guests here in Greece, the motherland of the Olympic Games, such as the General Secretary of IFMA, Mr. Stephan Fox, the Sports Director of WMC, Mr. Andrew Scott, the Ambassador of Thailand in Greece, Mr. Chailert Limsomboon and the Greek Minister of Sport, Mr. Georgios Vasileiadis. The first day of the seminar was made on purpose to be the 28th of June as on that day a year ago, our Federation was officially recognised by the Greek Ministry of Sport and the symbolism is obvious. We are just in the beginning of our way and there are many more things to be done until our final destination”.
