The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) was represented at the recent Danish Muaythai Federation (DMF) amateur competition in Roskilde, with IFMA Director General Charissa Tynan attending to show support for the federation’s grassroots development initiatives.

The event forms part of a new monthly competition concept launched by DMF, aimed at strengthening the sport at entry and youth levels while creating a clear, safe, and structured pathway aligned with IFMA rules and standards.
The Roskilde competition featured 20 bouts across the U10, U12, and U16 divisions. A significant number of these were Diploma bouts, where both athletes were announced as winners, providing young nak muay with their first experience of stepping into the ring in a controlled, educational, and confidence-building environment.

Alongside the Diploma bouts, several contests were conducted under full IFMA rules, revealing promising young athletes whose technical ability and composure signal strong potential for future progression within the IFMA competition pathway over the coming years.
Speaking at the event, IFMA Director General Charissa Tynan highlighted the importance of consistent grassroots opportunities:
“This type of regular, well-structured competition is exactly what young athletes need to develop safely and sustainably. Diploma bouts, in particular, play a crucial role in introducing children to Muaythai competition in a positive way, while monthly events like this create a genuine long-term pathway for talent to emerge.”
IFMA congratulates Danish Muaythai Federation President Hans Olesen and Secretary General Bayram Korkmaz for delivering a successful event and for launching an initiative that demonstrates strong leadership and a clear vision for the future.

With continued commitment to youth development and regular competition opportunities, the future of Danish Muaythai looks bright.
