2016 was an incredibly successful year for IFMA with the sport receiving its recognition by the International Olympic Committee. 2017 has a calendar packed with events around the world.

The Continental Championships will be held in Paris, Cancun and Rabat.
April will see muaythai back at the SportAccord Convention in Aarhus, Denmark; where IFMA has a truly special position with IFMA General Secretary as the SportAccord Vice President and AIMS President.
May will see the 2017 World Championships in Minsk, Belarus; with the last qualifier for the 2017 World Games under patronage of the IOC. TWG will be taking place in July in the city of Wroclaw, Poland.
Bangkok will be the host for the 2017 Youth World Championships in August. Muaythai (or Muay as referred to in the South East Asian region) will rise together in Kuala Lumpur at the SEA Games in end of August.
Turkmenistan will host the Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games in September, while the rest of the year will see the continental championships.

IFMA Sport Director Charissa Tynan stated,
“IFMA and muaythai will continue to protect and foster the most important asset muaythai has, our athletes. The planning has already gone as far as 2021 with the World Games in the United States”.
Ms Tynan hosted her monthly press briefing building up to the SportAccord Convention.
