After Sochi and Bangkok, the 3rd AIMS Congress and 2nd Extraordinary General Assembly for 2015 was held in the Olympic capital of Lausanne, where the 23 AIMS member federations came together for the last meeting of the year to discuss important topics and to continue to do their part in shaping the world of sport.
The topics included the proposed changes in SportAccord, and the AIMS’ mission and vision as the fourth group in the world sport family. Important constitutional changes were made to be fully complaint with the Olympic Charter and to continue to comply and to be actively involved with the standards of good governance. The Code of Ethics is important for AIMS and new commission chairpersons have been approved with Ms Hajin Lee from International Go federation in charge of the Ethics Commissions, to deal with any ethics related issues and to be the link with the IOC Ethics Commission. Ms Helen Lundberg from the International Federation of Sleddog Sport was appointed to take over the Social Responsibilities and Universality Commission.
AIMS President, Stephan Fox, also welcomed both the former presidents of AIMS, Fumio Morooka and Espen Lund at the meeting. Igor Lanzoni also presented on behalf of the Pierre de Coubertin foundation with which AIMS will soon sign an agreement of cooperation. Muaythai was represented by IFMA Sports Director, Charissa Tynan and Panida Ottesen, IFMA Integrity Unit.
The unity of AIMS is key, and this was outlined in all the presentations and speeches by the members and AIMS will continue their close cooperation with all Olympic stakeholders. IFMA Sports Director, CharissaTynan, said that IFMA is a proud member of AIMS and the cooperation between all 23 sports symbolised in the handshake in the AIMS logo can truly be felt in the meeting.
