Yesterday, April 1st saw the IFMA Executive Committee convene via Zoom conference for an important meeting to discuss important agenda points such as the event landscape for the remainder of 2021 and IFMA’s cautious optimism and planning of post-pandemic activities whilst maintaining a responsible system of planning and scheduling sport events. Discussions also centred around positive health, social and financial impacts of sport as well as taking decisions on actions to be taken to address interference in Muaythai by other sport organisations leading to endangerment of athlete health, safety and well-being.

 

In the absence of the President, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan who was unable to attend the meeting, IFMA Vice President Gen. Udomdej Seetabutr was elected to officiat in his capacity as Acting President and chair of the meeting. The General opened the meeting by wishing all attendees a warm welcome and thanked everyone for their time and attention towards the important agenda topics to be discussed.

 

The meeting was attended by 38 members of the Executive Committee and Commission representatives, as well as honoured guests such as HRH Prince Fahad Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Somsak Leeswatrakul, member of the advisory board to the President of the OCA, Sheikh Al-sabah & also advisor to the President of the NOC of Thailand. Within the IFMA Dr Somsak serves as Chair of the IFMA President’s Advisory Council. Other special guests included Khun Supranee Guptasa, Head of the NSDF of Thailand and Khun Nittaya, representative of the Sport Authority of Thailand.
