The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) held its second Executive Committee meeting of 2025 in the historic coastal city of Antalya, Türkiye. Taking place on 30th May at the Rox Royal Hotel, the meeting brought together IFMA’s leadership to discuss key developments, policy updates, and the path forward as the federation prepares for a major transition.



A central focus of the meeting was the upcoming IFMA elections, set to be held in Abu Dhabi in the third quarter of 2025. IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan confirmed he will not be standing for re-election, marking the end of a remarkable era of leadership. The forthcoming election will see a new president elected, along with other key leadership positions.
The Committee reviewed preparations for an exciting calendar of events for the remainder of the year, including:
- Asian Muaythai Championships in Vietnam
- CISM Military Muaythai Challenge in Chonburi, Thailand
- The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China
- IFMA Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi
- Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
- Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh
- Pan American Championships in Mexico City
- European Championships in Athens
- Update on the FISU World University Championship 2026 in Brazil
The Executive Committee also approved key updates to the IFMA Rules and Regulations, which will come into effect from 2026, continuing IFMA’s commitment to good governance and athlete-centred sport development.



Dr. Sakchye expressed his gratitude to the Executive Committee for their continued dedication and support, stating, “It has been a true honour to serve alongside such committed colleagues. Together, we have brought IFMA to new heights and I am confident in the future leadership to continue this legacy.”
The next meeting of the IFMA Executive Committee will be held in conjunction with the 2025 elections in Abu Dhabi.
