IFMA saw an overwhelming support from its athletes worldwide in the celebration of this year’s ‘PlayTrue Day’. IFMA’s social media tags on Instagram lit up with posts from athletes from around the globe in support of this important pillar of Fair Play.

‘Play True Day’ is dedicated to clean sport and is intended to raise awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others about the global fight against doping. The inspiration for this initiative stems from a WADA-hosted Education Conference in 2013, which was attended by 17 Latin-American countries that were the driving force behind 10 April being declared ‘Play True Day’. While it started as a small initiative, over the years, this grassroots movement has gained momentum with numerous organizations and countries from across the globe taking part.

Janice Lyn, IFMA’s Athlete Commission Chair stated “It was amazing to see the overwhelming support of my fellow athletes advocating for clean sport and fair play. One of the important aspects of being a part of the IFMA family as an athlete is the great responsibility we are obligated to observe in upholding the spirit of sport, ethics and clean competition, and campaigns like these give us the opportunity to voice our support for these important values.”
