IFMA AGM 2017

The IFMA AGM took place during the Youth Conference, following last year’s conference in Sweden, it was Thailand’s turn to host the AGM as part of the Youth Championships.
It was the first AGM which IFMA held as an IOC-recognised sport and international federation  – it was a proud moment for all the IFMA member countries.

The long and productive meeting had 28 agenda points, with many reports and decisions covered. It was also the appointment of two new EB members namely Gustavo Luna from Spain and Peter Boyd from Australia.
There were presentations by Malaysia for the SEA Games, Asian Indoor Games in Turkmenistan and Paris for this year’s European Championships. The Pan-American Championships take place in Mexico, and the African championships in Morocco.

The federations also heard presentations for 2018 including the Worlds in Mexico, FISU Muaythai World Championships in Pattaya and European Championships in Prague, and the Asian Championships to be held in Macau.
Another key decision was to allow the Oceania federations to join the Asian federations from 2018 onwards; to be in line with the decision of the OCA as regards participation in sports.

The next championships will be in Cancun Mexico in May 2018.
