A delegation from the Hong Kong Muaythai Association recently visited the motherland of Muaythai, Thailand, strengthening international cooperation and promoting the core Muaythai values through sport. The Hong Kong Muaythai Association is the sole organization recognized by the Hong Kong Government and the National Olympic Committee.

During the visit, the delegation toured the headquarters of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) and took part in a training session at the IFMA Gym and the renowned Mongkon Academy, gaining valuable experience in technical skills as well as in the culture and tradition of wai kru, further strengthening their connection with the global muaythai community.

Community Engagement and Youth Empowerment in Klong Toey

The delegation also visited the IFMA and World Muaythai Council (WMC) Youth Initiative Project, Laan Muay Kru Suar, in the Klong Toey community, a long‑standing program dedicated to social development through sport. Members of the Hong Kong team trained alongside youth athletes from the neighbourhood, witnessing firsthand how muaythai provides structure, confidence, and opportunity for young people growing up in challenging environments.

This visit continues a meaningful tradition for the Hong Kong Muaythai Association, led by Head Coach Vincent Leung and his wife Winnie, who have made it a point to include Klong Toey in their annual training camps at Mongkon Academy. Their commitment reflects the gym’s guiding principle: “Do Good, Feel Good.” The delegation also made a donation to support the continued growth of the youth program.

Beyond their activities abroad, the Hong Kong team is deeply rooted in community service at home. Their athletes regularly participate in local social initiatives, including visits to elderly homes and hospitals, reinforcing their belief that giving back is an essential part of being a martial artist and a representative of the muaythai family.

Coach Vincent shared a heartfelt reflection on the Klong Toey visit:
“Every time we come to Klong Toey, the children greet us with the biggest smiles. They are so proud to show their muaythai skills, and their joy reminds us why we return year after year. This community has so little, yet they give so much in spirit. Training with them is always the most meaningful part of our trip.”

This ongoing exchange between Hong Kong and Klong Toey continues to strengthen bonds across borders, demonstrating the power of muaythai to uplift communities and inspire positive change.
As part of the cultural experience, the delegation attended an event at the world-famous Rajadamnern Stadium as VIP guests, experiencing the historic atmosphere of one of Muaythai’s most iconic venues.

Chairman Jason Fan expressed his gratitude to IFMA, WMC, and Rajadamnern Stadium for their warm hospitality. He praised the organizations for their important work in promoting Muaythai globally and for their dedication to social responsibility and youth development through sport.

IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox, together with IFMA Sport Director Janice Lyn, warmly welcomed the delegation and thanked the Hong Kong Muaythai Association for its continuous efforts in developing the sport and promoting its values. They commended the association for its commitment to taking Hong Kong Muaythai to the next level and contributing to the global development of the sport.

Throughout the visit, the delegation experienced firsthand the five pillars of Muaythai: Respect, Honor, Tradition, Excellence, and Fair Play which form the foundation of the sport and guide athletes and organizations around the world.
The visit highlighted the strength of the international Muaythai family and reinforced the shared mission of promoting sport, culture, education, and Muaythai values worldwide.
