Dakota Ditcheva has earned her nickname ‘the beast in the ring’ after winning her fourth consecutive gold medal at the IFMA Youth championships in Jonkoping, Sweden. Representing team GB, Dakota put on an excellent show for all in attendance once again taking home gold only 8 months after she was given best female junior athlete in Thailand, receiving the trophy donated by her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Dakota has recently just turned 18 allowing her to step away from junior level and to step up in the senior division and is already making her mark there by winning fights in major events.

Whilst discussing the recent IFMA world championships Dakota said “In Sweden, a lot of people were expecting me to win. I never go over there with that attitude though.” Trained by her mum Lisa Howarth, a former world champion, Lisa said Dakota spends every spare second in the gym, training six days a week balancing her sporting career carefully with her studies and education. Her mother emphasises strongly on the mantra, healthy body healthy mind.

IFMA believes Dakota has a bright future ahead of her especially as Muaythai has been included in many events such as the World Games, World Combat Games, FISU and so on giving her and the many youth athletes incredible future opportunities as well as being able to compete in major galas.

We will enjoy watching Dakota’s progress on the international level especially at her upcoming fight with Ana Rita Carvallo on the 28th August where we believe she can boost her victory record into double figures.
