This year’s SportAccord Convention had one more attraction with the muaythai beach workout. Who would not want to train on powder white beaches, by the beautiful water of Nasimi Beach, with the backdrop of one of the most stunning hotels in the world, Atlantis,The Palm?

For two days, the SportAccord Convention delegates, members of the world’s recognised sport federations, IOC executives, and exhibitors had the chance to take part in a 45 minute morning beach workout. The class was taken by former muaythai world champion and TV celebrity (also General Secretary of IFMA) Stephan Fox, supported by the IFMA President, the local association instructors, and the IFMA international female instructors.

Delegates of all shapes and sizes took in the morning sun as they were put through a challenging workout structured to suit all ages and levels of fitness. They showed that muaythai really is for every body! The youngest participant was 11, and the oldest was 72!!

The session finished with a refreshing dip in the ocean as all the participants left buzzing with energy for the upcoming convention day and meetings ahead. The turnout was in excess of 100, which was much more than expected. IFMA General Secretary Stephan Fox stated that “there was a fantastic atmosphere and it showed everyone the health benefits muaythai has to offer. Above all, it was fun and many friendships were made as a result.”

IFMA is looking forward to the 2011 SportAccord in London UK, a year before the London Olympics, and we’ve been told that everyone can’t wait for ‘Good Morning London’!!
