Immediately following the announcement of the World Championships 2019 registration going live, the IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan gathered a meeting between the local organising committee and IFMA international office to develop a strategy for the preparation for an event which will bring the best muaythai athletes in the world to Bangkok. It will be the first time since 2015 that so many outstanding fighters will arrive in Thailand to compete for IFMA medals.

Qualification points for the World Games 2022 will be a strong motivation for the national federation to send their best team to compete for the trip to Birmingham USA for the Games.

Dr. Sakchye presented the plan of the venue for the World Championships giving special attention to the athletes’ safety and doping control which will be one of the most important components of the event as the World Games qualification is on stake for the gold medalists.

IFMA Director Ms. Charissa Tynan said that as much as 100 countries have already submitted their entries for the participation. 10 new muaythai federations will participate in the IFMA world championships for the first time with their athletes making their debut in IFMA competitions.

18-30 July will be the days when “Muaythai Will Be Coming Home”.
