Applications closed on 31 July 2014, and the International World Games Association has now started to assess the bids from potential host cities for The World Games 2021. The IWGA Bid Evaluation Commission will visit the three candidate cities – Birmingham (USA), Lima (Peru) and Ufa (Russia) – during October.

IWGA President José Perurena López expressed satisfaction with his first review of the bid files: “All three bid documents fulfill the high expectations that we have regarding a host city for a multi-sport event with 4,500+ participants. We therefore consider them as official Candidate Cities and will continue the evaluation process by visiting all three cities.”

The IWGA delegation will be headed by Vice-President Max Bishop and will start its on-site visits in Ufa, the capital of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan at the beginning of October. Meetings will take place with the responsible people in each candidate city to discuss the contents of the bidding document, and the team will inspect existing sport venues, hotels and infrastructure. Birmingham will follow in mid -October) and Lima at the end of the month.
