The World Championships 2018 in Cancun, Mexico gave a true boost to muaythai in Pan-American countries. So many national federations submitted their applications to IFMA and are now preparing for the big muaythai year. Ecuador is one of the most active countries to represent the American continent at the world muaythai forum this year.

Last week athletes from Ecuador went through their national qualification for the Pan-American Championships and World Championships. It was a record number of participants who had to compete for the right to travel to Thailand and be part of an event they have never seen before.
The President of the Ecuadorian Muaythai Federation Raymon Baquerizo said that he is proud to see this moment when Ecuadorian athletes can be part of the event which will take them to muaythai events with the world best athletes. It’s an achievement for the entire martial arts community and for the athletes a moment of glory to win medals of the Ecuadorian Championships which will take them to so many world-class muaythai events.

Ecuadorian Muaythai Federation truly makes great progress in development gaining support from the Medical Institutions (Instituto de Medicina del Deporte y Ortopedia en Ecuador) to provide the safety of athletes,as well as raising the levels of national technical officials through referee seminars.
IFMA congratulates Mr. Baquerizo and is looking forward to seeing Ecuadorian athletes carrying their flag at the opening ceremony of the World Championships.
