Host country Malaysia celebrate a win for Tengu Shahrizal!

Team Cambodia had a successful day in Kuala Lumpur taking home two wins from three bouts and taking their muaythai athletes closer to the gold medal day at the SEA Games 2017. 

Six countries are competing for five gold medals in the MITEC hall in front of a passionate crowd. Day two started off with local athlete Mod Amirul Bin Ariffin taking on Cambodia’s Khun Dima with the points going to Cambodia in a tough bout.

The Khmer team also won against Indonesia when Meun Sophea defeated Jalu Aji Darma at 71kgs.

Team Laos also advanced one athlete to the next round when Souliyavong Latxasak won on points against Jonathan Polosan from The Philippines.

For Vietnam, Vo Van Dai – who represented his country at The World Games last month – won an exciting bout against Indonesia’s Ardiansyah at 63.5kg. And at 67kg, the home crowd had plenty to cheer with Tengu Shahrizal defeated Indonesian athlete Raymond Robert. Gazali.

Team Thailand gather for a photograph to celebrate a good day

Team Thailand also had a good day with three wins for them, including The World Games athlete Aneung Khattamarasri stepping closer to the podium with a win over Laotian athlete Khieosavath Damxoumphone.

Two more days of action for muaythai fans at the MITEC Hall. It’s an exciting experience for everyone being part of such a large multi-sport tournament with events going on everywhere around this vibrant city.
