The muaythai women of Iran in Asgabat 2017!

Ashgabat has really opened its heart to muaythai as the second day of competition saw huge excitement in and outside of the rings.

These athletes represent the best of the best from Asian and Oceania muaythai, sent by their National Olympic Committees to proudly fly the flag for their countries.

Competing in two rings today, Afghanistan claimed four wins for Mohammad Yousef Jahangir, Jawad Ghalagee, Ahmad Zada Hasan and in the women’s division Zahra Rezaye won on points.

Kazahstan’s Yelaman Sayassatov, gold medal winner at The World Games in July, defeated Ariel Lee Lampacan in an exciting encounter.

IFMA executive board members were present supporting the athletes, including secretary general Stephan Fox, and Mervyn Tan representing Singapore. The home crowd had plenty to cheer about also as local boy Nurgeldi Atayew won his bout early in the day, adding to the Turkmen’s team chances for medals.

Iraq also had a good day today; Ali Kinnah defeated Syria’s Mhd Ali Jaghl in a tense bout, winning on points. And Ameera Takaella defeated Turkman Hangeldi Berdiyew at 63.5kgs.

And in Ring A Ryan Jakari from The Philippines defeated Karimjon Karimov, Uzbekistan while his teammate Philip Delarmino defeated his Iranian opponenet.
