There were some outstanding performances from both male and female athletes as this event is very much about gender equality in which both the African Muaythai Union and IFMA have been working on.
The first fight of the championships set the stage for Team Morocco as Himidache Hamza (MAR) pulled out on top in a nail-biting match against Mohamed Sayad from Algeria. Throughout the afternoon Morocco continued to pump out outstanding performances alongside the Egyptian Home Team.
Team Sudan set their mark with big win from Sudan’s Mohamed Saidahmed against Libya’s Abdalaouf Sasi.
The females showed their power and energy right off the bat as Tunisia’s firecracker, Ines Ghalani, came out swinging against the Home Team’s Shad Saber taking all 3 rounds and the first female bout of the championship.
The first day of the African Muaythai Championships started off with warrior spirit with athletes competing with heart and sportsmanship. We are looking forward to another amazing day of fights and the semi-finals this afternoon. Tune into all the action on the IFMA Facebook Page starting 3pm Cairo time.
