GAISF, the most important Association of recognized sports in the world, and a partner of the IOC, is planning to hold the first World Martial Art Games for the 13 Olympic and GAISF recognized Martial Arts in 2010. Muaythai is a member of GAISF under IFMA, who will be the International Federation for the sport, and Thailand is one of the bidding countries to host the Games (a decision will be made in early 2008).
The next GAISF Martial Art Meeting to discuss the Games will be chaired by Mr Hein Verbruggen, President of GAISF, Chairman of the Coordination Commission for the Beijing Games and an IOC Member and held in Bangkok on 5th December in honor of His Majesty’s birthday, allowing GAISF to be part of the closing ceremony for the IFMA World Championships.
IFMA, FAMA and the WMC are looking forward to welcoming so many highly regarded dignitaries from the sporting world to the Championships and this important meeting.
