The IFMA Continental Meeting was held in the lavish Azadi Grand Hotel, Tehran, with over fifty countries coming together. The meeting was chaired by IFMA General Secretary, Stephan Fox and Sue Latta, IFMA Vice President and chairperson of the IFMA Female Commission. The meeting was co-chaired by General Secretary of the European Muaythai Federation (EMF), Rafal Szlachta, and FAMA General Secretary, Mervyn Tan.
The President of the Iranian Muaythai Association, Javad Nasiri, opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to lovely Tehran and thanking them all for participating in this important peace through sport event. The representative of Peace and Sport, Sebastien Thiam, then delivered a speech on behalf of the organization.
After this opening, things got down to business and numerous topics were discussed. Of note were the upcoming 2012 World Championships in St Petersburg, Russia, the qualification criteria for the 2013 SportAccord Combat Games, and the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Korea.
