Muaythai will see the best of the best at the upcoming World Combat Games under patronage of the IOC.
This week we introduce some of the fuel for the fire in the Female divisions!!
The 60 KG division is filled with some serious contenders….Valentina Shevchenko, 5 time IFMA World Champion will be challenged by Aicha El Majydy who beat her in 2011 at the IFMA World Championship finals in Tashkent.
Caley Reece, the WMC World Champion who once lost to Valentina in the finals of the 1st WCG in 2010 will have another go of it.
Other hopefuls include the European Champion Maryia Pimakhova from Belarus, Altansukh Zunaast the Mongolian who just swiped the gold medal at the recent Asian Indoor Martial Art Games in Incheon, Scandinavian champion Madeleine Vall, two time European Champion Anastasiia Sharmonova from Ukraine, and the hope of the home nation Alfiya Ishtryakova from Russia.
The 54KG division saw some fierce qualifications in the 12 months leading up to the games and will be sure to set the house on fire. Needless to say the 2010 WCG champion Milja Heino will be back to defend the title she claimed in Beijing.
Other notable contenders include the current IFMA World Champion Ashley Nichols from Canada, gold medalist at recent Asian Indoor Martial Art Games, Ratchadaporn Wihantamma from Thailand, winner of the last Indoor Asian Games, Thi Ngoc Lin Phan from Vietnam, Ashleigh Ahipene the Oceania Champion from New Zealand, the Chinese Champion Yang Yang, the silver medallist from the last IFMA World Championships Yasmine Colak from Germany and the hope of Mother Russia, Natalia Diyachkova.
