Mauritius has officially made history, successfully hosting the first-ever IFMA OSM Seminar from 19th to 22nd August 2025 at the breathtaking 7 Cascades Lodges, Henrietta, Vacoas. The event brought together legendary global experts and international leaders in a groundbreaking celebration of sport, education, and social responsibility.

Significantly, the opening on August 19th coincided with World Humanitarian Day, setting the perfect tone of reflection, unity, and purpose. This powerful alignment underscored the values at the heart of the seminar: solidarity, respect, and humanitarian impact, proving once again how sport transcends competition to serve a greater good.

At the forefront of the landmark gathering was Grandmaster Dr. Ajarn Chao Wattayota of Thailand, one of the most revered figures in Muaythai. He was joined by world-class specialists in sports psychology, safeguarding, nutrition, medical care, anti-doping, and sport business, delivering a dynamic program designed to inspire and empower the next generation of coaches across Mauritius and the Indian Ocean region.

The seminar was further elevated by the President of United Through Sports, who gave a keynote address on the essential role of social values and responsibilities in sport. His message highlighted how combat sports, in particular, can serve as catalysts for inclusion, discipline, and community empowerment. The opening ceremony also welcomed senior Mauritian officials and dignitaries, reflecting the nation’s commitment to positioning sport as a driver of positive social change.

In a meaningful show of solidarity, the event partnered with PILS (Prévention Information Lutte contre le Sida), helping to raise awareness in the fight against HIV and stigma. This collaboration perfectly aligned with the foundational philosophy of Muaythai as a discipline rooted in respect, health, and community responsibility.

A special tribute was paid to Mr. Sham Seeratam, IFMA Executive Committee Member and President of the Indian Ocean Muaythai Federation, whose vision and leadership were instrumental in bringing this milestone event to life. His tireless work has not only elevated Muaythai in Mauritius but also inspired the entire region to strive towards new heights.

Reflecting on the success of the seminar, IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan stated:
“Together, we have brought IFMA to new heights, and events like these show how sport can go beyond competition—it can heal, educate, and unite. I am proud to see Mauritius leading the way in this important journey.”

The IFMA Education Coaches Seminar 2025 was more than an educational milestone—it was a movement for transformation. With its strong focus on knowledge-sharing, innovation, and community impact, the seminar has paved the way for a new era in Muaythai where the sport stands not only as a martial art, but as a tool for social change, empowerment, and human development.
Mauritius has set the standard—and the journey has only just begun.
