Only 50 days left until the opening of the 2017 World Games when muaythai makes its debut as official medal sport. Over the last two years qualifiers took place in all five continents in which over 10,000 athletes participated in order to book their place in the World Games.
The World Games played an important part in the Olympic sporting calendar and the IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach will be part of the opening ceremony.
IFMA President Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan stated that muaythai is proud to be part of the IWGA, and that muaythai is not only an exciting ring sport to enter the World Games, but also a combat sport with ancient traditions and values.


The mascots of the World Games Hansel and Gretel have traveled to all parts of the globe to promote the World Games and also values such as non-discrimination, gender equality, and the unique IFMA family values.
