The 2024 competition season marked a pivotal year for Chinese Muaythai, showcasing remarkable growth in athletes, officials, and gyms. The year culminated in the breathtaking Chinese National Muaythai Championships held in Guangzhou, a milestone event in the nation’s Muaythai development.
The championships followed rigorous pre-qualifiers across all 31 provinces, bringing together the country’s top talent. The finals featured 62 teams vying for spots at major international events, including the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, the IFMA World Championships in Turkey, and the Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi.
Ajarn Somchai Sripiew, Chair of the IFMA Technical Committee, served as the neutral technical chair for the event, while FAMA General Secretary Mervyn Tan represented both IFMA and FAMA. Dr. Guoyi, IFMA ITO, applauded the exceptional level of competition and commended Team China’s readiness to face the world’s best athletes at the upcoming 2025 World Games.
Mr. Mervyn Tan emphasized the critical collaboration between the Chinese Olympic Committee, the China Wushu Sports Management Center, and the Chinese Wushu Association, recognizing their collective effort in making this event a resounding success.
