The 32nd South American Championships were successfully held this year on 22nd and 23rd of October in Montevideo, Uruguay. The event was organised by the Uruguayan Federation of Traditional Muaythai under the vision and leadership of its President Marcos Pereira.

The event saw the participation of 7 South American countries including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and the home team Uruguay.

The 2-day event which was fully recognised by the NOC of Uruguay saw 50 bouts of muaythai action over 2 competition rings. This important event for the South American countries will serve as their first qualifying step towards the World Combat Games next year.

The matches were streamed via YouTube and broadcast to various national TV channels.

Peru was a force to be reckoned with, topping the medal table with 5 golds and 4 bronzes. Home team Uruguay came in 2nd on the medal tally claiming 4 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze.
