IFMA was honoured to take part in last week’s seminars delivered by the FISU for all Organising Committees of 2022 and 2024 seasons of the World University Championship and University World Cup events.

IFMA was represented by Dmitry Putilin as the Technical Committee Chair for Muaythai, alongside IFMA Director Charissa Tynan.

The week-long seminar covered a myriad of subjects for the Organising Committees from Services & Protocols, Accreditation, Sport Programme, Venues, Anti-doping & Medical Services to Marketing, Social Media and Finance.

In terms of the pandemic impact on the 2022 season, FISU has developed an Event Health Safety Guideline to support the discussion around the postponement of the FISU World University Games Summer in Chengdu (CHN).

The 2022 events will be closely monitored with each Organising Committee and keeping the respective TCC informed. The OCs will have to set up health safety guidelines according to the World Health Organisation, our requirements and their country’s respective rules.

For the 2022 season, Muaythai will be included into the University World Cup (UWC) Combat Sports event in Yekaterinburg alongside boxing, sambo, karate, wrestling and wushu.

For the 2022 seasons the age bracket is: Be at least 18 and no older than 25 years of age on the 31st December of the year of the event; for 2022, athletes must be born between the 01/01/1997 and the 31/12/2004.
