Over 200 participants from national federations, national and international press joined the press conference for the 2015 IFMA Royal World Cup. History will be made in Thailand from August 13-22, when for the first time, the 3 Royal Cups given to Muaythai will come together for one major event.

His Majesty the King’s trophy will be given to the best male national team, Her Majesty the Queen’s trophy will go to the best female national team, and HRH the Crown Prince’s trophy will go to the best junior team.

Over 2,000 athletes, officials and delegates are expected from over 100 countries in all 5 continents. All the event details were announced in a special conference between the world governing body for the sport of Muaythai, IFMA, and the Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand (AMTAT) under Royal Patronage. Dr Sakchye Taspuwan, IFMA President, stated that this event an honour for Thailand to host and that after 5 years, a major event like this has been given to the Kingdom. The combination of the 3 Royal Trophies will make the Royal World Cup the single biggest sporting event in Thailand.

IFMA General Secretary, Stephan Fox, made a detailed presentation on the achievements of Muaythai from 1992 to 2015, with IFMA’s acceptance and inclusion by the OCA, SportAccord, International World Games Association, TAFISA, and the patronage of FISU for the Muaythai University World Cup. Mr Kajorn Prawsri, Vice President of the AMTAT, stated that Thailand is looking forward to welcome all the delegates for this truly special event and that after the SportAccord World Combat Games 2010 in Beijing, the IFMA World Championship in Uzbek 2011, the IFMA World Championship in Russia 2012, World Combat Games in St Petersburg in 2013, and the IFMA World Championships in Malaysia in 2014, Thailand is honoured to be the host again.
