On September 28th, Santiago (Chile), will host the 1st Muaythai Ambassador of Thailand Cup, in honour of Thailand’s new ambassador to Chile.

Founded in 1541, Santiago has been the capital city since colonial times. The city boasts a downtown core of 19th century neoclassical architecture and winding side-streets, dotted by art deco, neo-gothic, and other styles.

The imposing Andes Mountains can be seen from most points in the city.

The city outskirts are surrounded by vineyards, and Santiago is within a few hours of both the mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

The event is being organized by the Federacao Chilena de Muaythai, under patronage of PAMU (Pan American Muaythai Union) and will have athletes from Chile and Brazil with support from CBMTT (Confederacao Brasileira de Muaythai Tradicional).

This event will be the first of many events which PAMU is organizing on the American Continent in partnership with the National Federations.

The president of PAMU, Mr. Carlos Julio Camacho, and the president of Federacao Chilena de Muaythai, Mr. Sérgio Liempi, are working in unity to spread Muaythai based on international standard of IFMA’s Muaythai rules.

Through this event, with the support of local embassies, PAMU officially launches the campaign for recognition of all National Federations from the American Continent by their relative NOCs (National Olympic Committees).

During the Cup, PAMU will be honouring IFMA President Dr. Sackchye Tapsuwan and General Secretary Mr. Stephan Fox, for their efforts and work being done around the world towards Olympic recognition of our beloved martial art.
