The 2024 Pan American Muaythai Championships stand as a pivotal moment in the sport’s history, bringing together the finest athletes from 16 Pan American nations to compete on an elite stage. With muaythai working towards full inclusion in the Pan American Games, the championships, organized by Muaythai Canada, symbolize the strength and growth of the sport across the region.

The event will be highlighted by two thrilling main title bouts, underscoring the talent and determination of female athletes in muaythai:

Laura Burgos (Mexico), a reigning World Champion and World Games Champion, will clash with Canada’s Juliana McDermott for the prestigious WMC Pan Am Title in the 54 kg category.

In the 57 kg division, Tierra Brandt (USA), a multiple-time IFMA World Champion and decorated medalist at the World Combat Games and World Games, will face off against Canada’s Taylor McClatchie for the coveted WMC World Title.

These bouts not only showcase the highest level of competition in the Pan American region but also reflect the sport’s commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of female athletes. The participation of 16 nations in the finals highlights the deep talent pool in Pan American muaythai.

Alin Hălmăgean, President and Director of Muaythai Canada, expressed immense pride in hosting what is set to be the most significant fight card in Canadian history. He emphasized the importance of showcasing female athletes in the main events, which marks a significant milestone in the promotion of equality in the sport.

The championship will be attended by prominent figures from the government and the Olympic movement, with His Excellency the Ambassador serving as Chairman of the event, reinforcing the event’s prestigious standing within the global sports community.
